Primary Project Labs ("PPL", "we") designs project-based learning for Grade 4 to 7 learners. This notice explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who helps us look after it, and the choices you have. It follows South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
Who is responsible
Primary Project Labs, South Africa. Responsible party and Information Officer: Werner Guderian. To ask a question or use any of your rights, write to werner@primaryprojectlabs.co.za.
What we collect, and why
- Visiting our website. Which pages are viewed, the type of device and browser, and an approximate location, measured by Google Analytics. We use it to understand and improve the site. It does not include your name or email address.
- Measuring our ads (only if you accept). The Meta Pixel tells us whether people who came from our ads looked at a Lab or bought one. It is not loaded unless you click Accept.
- Buying a Lab. Payments are handled by Paystack. We receive your email address, the product, the amount and the payment reference, so we can deliver what you bought and keep our financial records. We never see or store your card details.
- Paying by Alipay or WeChat (Chinese site). The email address and payment reference you enter, so we can check your payment and open your Lab.
- The Learning Portal. A parent's email address and a record of the consent they gave. For each learner: a first name or nickname, the grade, and the answers and progress inside the Labs, all entered by the parent or learner. We do not ask for a child's email address, phone number, date of birth, home address, school or photo.
- Emails we send you. Purchase confirmations, download links, sign-in codes and, if you have a Portal account, a weekly summary of your family's progress.
- Getting in touch. If you use our contact form or write to us, we keep your message and details so we can reply.
Children
Information about a learner is given by their parent or guardian, who agrees to it before a learner profile is created. We use it only to run the Lab and show the parent how it is going. We never use children's information for advertising, and there are no advertising or tracking tools inside the Learning Portal.
Who helps us handle it
We use trusted providers to run our service, and they may only use your information for that purpose:
- Paystack, for card and online payments.
- Supabase, for the Learning Portal database (hosted in Ireland).
- Cloudflare, to host and deliver the website and the Portal.
- Resend, to send our emails.
- Google, for website measurement, our contact forms and our business email.
- Meta, only if you accept advertising measurement.
- Alipay and WeChat Pay, when Chinese-site customers pay that way.
Some of these providers store information outside South Africa. We choose providers that protect information to a standard comparable with POPIA. We do not sell your information.
How long we keep it
We keep information only as long as we need it to provide what you bought and to meet our legal duties, such as tax and accounting records. Portal information is kept while your family account is active, and you can ask us to delete it sooner.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop sending you marketing. You can also withdraw a consent you gave. Write to werner@primaryprojectlabs.co.za and we will reply as soon as we can. If you are not happy with how we handle your information, you may complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za.
