Primary Project Labs grows out of many years of teaching, designing, observing, and learning with children across different countries and cultures.
I spent many years working in Asia, in different schools, classrooms, and learning environments. I taught, designed programmes, worked with students, supported learning, and watched how children respond when learning is clear, purposeful, and connected. Over time, I became more interested in the structure behind learning: not just what we teach, but how children move through it.
I also saw this through my own son. Because of our travels and the different cultures and schools he moved through, I had to think carefully about learning continuity. How does a child move from one place to another without losing confidence? How do they keep growing when the system around them changes? How do we help them become adaptable, responsible, and capable?
For me, the answer was never just more worksheets. Worksheets can help practise a skill, but they do not always give a child direction. I wanted learning to feel like a journey. What a child does today should connect to what they did yesterday, and it should prepare them for what they will do tomorrow. At the end of the week, they should have something real to show: a model, a plan, a design, a presentation, a report, a piece of thinking they can explain.
That is how children begin to understand that learning is not just about finishing tasks. It is about building something over time. This is also part of my personal philosophy on raising children. I believe children need responsibility. They need goals. They need to know that their effort matters. They need to learn how to start something, stay with it, improve it, and present it. They need adults who do not only give them answers, but who help them become stronger thinkers.
We live in a world where children are constantly stimulated. Screens, games, short videos, and fast content make it very difficult for normal learning to compete. I do not believe the solution is to pretend technology does not exist. Children are growing up inside a digital world. But I do believe we must give technology a better role. It should not only entertain them. It should not only distract them. It should help them access meaningful work.
That is why I started shaping Primary Project Labs as structured learning experiences. A lab gives the child a mission. It gives them steps. It gives them something to build. It gives them a reason to read, think, observe, plan, design, and explain. It gives parents, tutors, and facilitators a clear path to follow without having to create everything from scratch.
At the heart of PPL is a simple idea:
Observe. Explore. Build.
Observe the world carefully. Explore how things work. Build something that shows your understanding.
I believe children need more of that. Not more pressure. Not more random work. More purposeful learning. More responsibility. More visible progress. More chances to explain what they know.
If we want a better future, we have to start with how we raise and educate children. The world changes when children learn to think, take responsibility, solve problems, and work towards something meaningful.
That is why I do this.
